Happy release day, Florian Horwath and KT Tunstall!
Underground from Austria meets Scottish world hits: ‘Light of Love’, the first collaboration by Florian Horwath and KT Tunstall, will be released on 4 October 2024.
One of the main figures of the Austrian indie scene is teaming up with an international superstar. What initially sounds like an unlikely duo turns out to be the perfect symbiosis of two special talents on their joint single ‘Light of Love’.
KT Tunstall, Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum award-winning, composer of global hits such as ‘Suddenly I See’ and ‘Black Horse And A Cherry Tree’, pioneer loop station artist, recently released a collaborative album with Suzi Quatro and one of the most successful Scottish musicians for 20 years. On the other hand, Florian Horwath is a jack-of-all-trades with underground hits, international tours and features with Element of Crime, Beck and The Cardigans, an award-winning film musician and now also a book author, who Spex once hailed as he reinvents the last five decades of pop music.
Two different worlds collide, yet it seems only logical that the two should join forces for this song. ‘Light of Love’, in a way the soundtrack to Horwath’s first novel “Magic Man” and also part of the upcoming Element of Crime documentary “Wenn es dunkel und kalt wird in Berlin”, is a song about the vast space between day and night, light and darkness, waking and sleeping. These dichotomies and their shades of light and love are recurring subjects and core elements in both KT Tunstall’s and Florian Horwath’s work. Their two voices nestle together, first carefully and mystically, then glowing and hymnic and powerful. Initially accompanied only by piano chords and a vibrating, blazing organ, ‘Light of Love’ grows into a haunting duet and an indie pop gem in its very own euphorically staged restraint. Fragile and strong, dreamy and yet very conscious. And once again, two different worlds have come together.
Starting today, you can stream, download and love “Light of Love” on all music platforms around the world.
