Coals is a young music duo from Poland led by Katarzyna Kowalczyk and Łukasz Rozmysłowski. The name of the band refers to “Silesia” region in Poland, recognized for its coal mines.

The exclusive British magazine “The Quietus” about Coals: “The somewhat creamy quality of Coals music is an experience akin to being wrapped up in cotton wool and sailing away on ebb tides of unperturbed bliss. It could well be down to the silky smooth voice of vocalist Katarzyna Kowalczyk or possibly the multi-instrumentation of Łukasz Rozmysłowski but the net result is gorgeously lush music that increases the anticipation of their yet-to-be released debut album.” Recently the American magazine Under the Radar added: “Coals mix in heavy helping of hip-hop beats, creating a hypnotic mix between the dirty club and darkened city streets.”

Barely half a year since the band started in 2014 they got invited to perform on OFF Festival. Katarzyna and Łukasz opened the first in Poland video session for KEXP station, where song “Weightless” got selected as a song of a day in August 2015. Among Katarzyna and Łukasz inspirations we can find artists such as Spooky Black, Soap&Skin, Dean Blunt and Sigur Ros. The band have been performing regularly in Poland but just recently they became recognizable abroad due to shows on Positivus Festival, Reeperbahn Festival, LOFTAS, Tune In Tel Aviv or BUSH Budapest. In November 2016 they supported Icelandic bands Rokkurro and Myrra Ros during Iceland Airwaves and appeared on another session for KEXP in famous Kex Hostel.

Since December 2016 duo have released three video-clips for “RAVE03’”, “Lato2002” and “S.I.T.C.” which are foreshadowing their debut LP. The realese of the “Tamagotchi” album is planned for 13th October 2017 and is going to be preluded with number of shows on festivals such as Freaky Summer in Belarus, Waves Vienna in Austria or FLAAM in Slovakia.
